The Remonstrants are Dutch Protestants, and their name was developed as adherents of Jacobus Arminius after his death and having repudiated the name Arminians.  Remonstrance were articles that were drawn up in 1610 as an exposition and justification of their views.  The Remonstrants addressed themselves to the States of Holland during the Synod of Dordrecht for the reconsideration and examination of the Belgic Confession and the Heidelberg Catechism.
